Physicals & Check-ups
Regular Well Visits
Our professional health care team is here for you and your family. We recommend a regular check-up every year to help find potential health problems before they become an issue. If you have risk factors for health problems or experience poor overall health, we encourage you to schedule a physical.
At your check-up, we will ask about your overall lifestyle, listen to your heart and lungs, and measure your weight and vital signs. We will also ask you about your mental and emotional well-being.
With regular physical exams and screenings, we can build a trusting relationship. This will allow us to have open and honest conversations about your medical history and conditions which will ensure better health care.
What We Measure During a Physical
Consistent medical check-ups play an essential role in maintaining overall wellness and peace of mind. Here’s what we will check during a physical:
- Weight and height to calculate BMI (body mass index)
- Blood pressure to screen for hypertension
- Cholesterol levels to identify risks of heart disease and stroke
- Blood sugar test (A1C) to check for diabetes or prediabetes
- Blood tests to screen for potential illnesses
- Medication management
- Urine test to monitor kidney and urinary tract health
- General examination of the skin, abdomen, and lymph nodes
PLEASE NOTE: We offer flu vaccines, however we do not offer scheduled vaccines. For very young children, we recommend having annual check-ups with a pediatrician who can offer vaccinations. There is a pharmacy next door for COVID vaccines or any other need for a specific vaccine.
Women's Health Check-ups
All women need to take time to get regular screenings and to discuss their health habits. These visits can help patients avoid problems in the future by detecting issues early. It can be helpful to develop a long-term relationship with a medical provider who knows your history and can monitor your emotional and physical health for a lifetime.
Adult women should have their blood pressure screened every 1-2 years, cholesterol checked every 5 years, body mass index (BMI) measured, and a pap smear every 3 years. After age 45, women should start getting annual mammograms every year and a blood glucose test every 3 years. At age 50, women should start getting colon cancer screenings every 5-10 years. A bone density screening should be done at age 65.
